Assumption Cross Country

Attendance at Practice

1. We practice after school, Monday through Thursday, at Seneca Park.  Saturday practice on August 16 and 23 is at Iroquois Park at 9:30am.  Sunday practice is at 5pm at EP Tom Sawyer.

2. Unless it is clearly unsafe and we cannot “wait out” the bad weather, we will always practice.

3. If you cannot attend practice, then please speak directly with a coach and explain – rather than simply go home after school and say nothing. The only exception to this rule is if you go home early from school or are absent from school.

4. Unless it’s absolutely necessary to leave early, please remain at practice until you’re done with your assigned workout/run.  Most, but not all weekday practices are done between 4:30 and 5:00.

Practice Groups

Please follow one of our two practice attendance schedules (Group A or Group B).

1. Group B:  attend Monday through Thursday.  Girls in this group will compete in our weekday meets (typically Tues or Wed) and in the Academy Meet (Sat, Oct 25), but not our weekend meets.  All members of this group will earn a JV certificate at most if they attend regularly (seniors included).

2. Group A:  attend Monday through Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Girls in this group could be asked to compete in any meet on our schedule, and are at least eligible to earn a Varsity letter – depending upon whether those girls meet our Varsity letter standards.  The main “benefits” of participating in Group A are given below.

Ø     you are at least eligible to compete in invitational meets, including meets that involve overnight travel (e.g. Great American CC Invitational in Birmingham, AL)

Ø     being at least eligible to earn a Varsity letter if you meet our Varsity lettering standards (note: any girls in the competitive training group, Group A, who do not meet the Varsity lettering standard will receive a JV certificate at the end of the season)

Ø     opportunity to train more regularly, run faster and get better

Practice Guidelines

1. Please check in when you arrive at practice, and please check out when you leave.

2. Only run where you’re told you may run, and do as you’re asked – to the best of your ability.

3. Do not enter someone’s home, a business, etc, without permission from a coach.

4. Do not run with or meet with people during practice who are not on our team unless you have specific permission from a coach to do so, or use practice in any manner that could possibly be interpreted as something designed to advance your social life outside of our team.

5. If you observe someone breaking rules, engaging in inappropriate behavior, etc, then you’ll be expected to speak with a coach about the incident(s).

6. Please report all injuries, accidents, etc, to a coach.

Communication

Please check your school email on a regular basis, and be aware that most questions regarding our schedule, meet entries, directions to meets, etc, can be answered by going to our team website, crosscountry.ahsdistance.org, or the Assumption homepage at www.flotrack.org.
